(Writers Island Prompt #8 for 2011: Foretell)
All through life men live by greed
Ambition drives them to succeed.
Is the measure of successes
The cars he drives or how he dresses?
There is no time to smell the flowers;
To earn the most takes many hours.
So when his final days are done,
He can look back and say, “I won!”
Or rather, will he sadly list
All the special moments missed?
If man could see his future clearly,
I think he’d cherish love more dearly.
You've captured the modern disease perfectly.
ReplyDeleteThanks! This seems to become more clear as I get older!
ReplyDeleteNot sure how I missed this, Gloria.
