Day 21 April P-A-D prompt: Second Thoughts
Alarm is set for half-past five,
Busy day ahead.
First a walk,
A brisk 5K,
Back again,
Quick shower then
Coffee, eggs, and fruit
For fuel,
Throw a load of laundry in,
Answer email
Check new prompts,
Write a masterpiece or two,
Scribble a sestina...
Or
Should I just sleep in?

LOL - I often have that second thought...like, every five minutes after I've hit "snooze"!
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed the poem!
Gloria, the temptation is so great. Sometimes the spirit is willing, but... ! Liked this take. Amy

I'm a morning person. Sleeping in just doesn't happen in my world! Good for your doing a 5k!

The ability to do a 5K is so far in my past, I can only envy you that. I also am a morning person, so am up, but that doesn't mean I don't crawl back in when I have finished what I feel is necessary, lol. Nice take on the second thought subject,

Perfect punchline.

Just lovely. Wish I could sleep in. Nice imagery.
ReplyDeleteThank you all, but I must add a disclaimer..lol, this is pure fiction! I am also an early riser, though early is now about 7:00 rather than the 5:30 before I retired. Also, I plan to 'walk' a 5K at the end of May but don't do so regularly!!! Most mornings find me in front of my computer sipping my coffee. :)
ReplyDeleteAgain, thank you so much for taking the time to stop by, read, and comment. I really appreciate it!
Gloria, I like this a lot, especially the part about sleeping in. I am not a morning person:)
ReplyDeleteHere is a link to a wordle site, that Brenda is hosting on Sundays, hope you join us.

Thanks Pamela, for the comment and for the site address. I'll definitely check it out!
ReplyDeleteHa Ha! Loved this one. My second thoughts on this subject, usually wins most days. My days are never as efficient as I would like them to be.
ReplyDeleteBother - now I have to go and read up about a sestina! LOL
ReplyDeleteI'm with you. Most mornings I am in the front of my computer sipping coffee. I do walk later in the day, but enjoy the early morning with poetry! Wonderful sestina though. Truly made me smile!
