Two O'Clock

Day 9 April P-A-D prompt:  Write a time of day poem
NaPoWriMo Day 9 prompt:  Write a poem backwards.  Start by writing out an old saying that takes the form of a declarative statement.

Two o’clock
Surrounded by
Ghostly presence
Haunting emptiness
Getting up
Sitting down
Walking in circles
Searching
Holding on to
The promise of healing
From painful farewell…
It doesn’t come…
Three o’clock…
Keep watching the clock
Pain will soon ebb
Just hold on…four o’clock
To the promise…
Time heals all wounds.

  5. Gloria, thanks for visiting my blog. This is my first time visiting yours. I will visit again. Your piece resonates with me right now. Sometimes the healing doesn't come! Sad, but true.

  6. Yes, I agree with Flaubert in the sense of anxiety....the poem itself " paces". The blog is absolutely beautiful. So lovely to meet you!

  17. Sometimes all you can do is wait for time to pass, the healing is done in secret and then you look for that old pain to find it gone.

    too fast for feelings

  19. Wonderful words strung together to create a longing...for the sun to come out again. Very nice.

  20. I like how you worked backward from an old saying, a proverb, but made it your own, just with that little word "promise". The speaker isn't healed yet, and you capture that uneasy feeling well. Very effective, understated, and moving.
